    Things to keep in mind during floods; be updated on the weather conditions by listening to the radio and/or watching the televised news. Keep an emergency kit; this should contain basic medication, 3-days worth of drinking water, easy-to-eat no-cook meals, and an extra set of clothing. If you need to evacuate your home, secure the locks and turn off the main switch of the electricity. Bring only important documents and items. Refrain from passing through floodwater, but if this is unavoidable, walk with caution and use a stick to guide your steps.
