Tropical Storm ‘Lannie’ to enter PAR this week

Two weather disturbances are being monitored by PAGASA.

These include a Tropical Storm with international name “Talim” that may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday or Tuesday. As of 3:00 AM, it was located 1,885 kilometers east of Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 80 kph, moving west-northwest at 25 kph. In an interview with PAGASA Weather Forecaster Robert Badrina, he said that the cyclone will be named “Lannie” when it enters PAR and may bring rains to areas in Extreme Northern Luzon.

Although “Talim” has no direct effect to the country yet, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) within PAR is bringing rains in some areas.

At 3:00 AM, the LPA was estimated at 745 kilometers northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar. Its chance of developing into a Tropical Cyclone remains low, said Badrina.

Today, Visayas, Palawan, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao and Caraga will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms due to the extension of the LPA. The rest of the country will have fair weather condition except for isolated rain showers.
