Rains are more likely to prevail due to the Low Pressure Area (LPA), last located in the vicinity of Maddela, Quirino. PAGASA Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong noted that it has a slim chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within the day but once it reaches the West Philippine Sea, it may accumulate moisture and may still intensify as a “bagyo”.

Because the LPA is now traversing in between Northern and Central Luzon, it will continue to dump rains in several areas. Cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected in Bicol Region and in the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands. PAGASA alerts the residents against possible flooding and landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Gale warning is up in the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, where rough to very rough sea condition is expected. Sea travel is risky for fishing boats and other small seacraft as wave height may reach up to 3.4 to 4.5 meters.

Have you noticed the slightly cooler weather mostly in the early morning? Quitlong added that northeasterly winds are already approaching. The ongoing transition period or shifting of wind patterns signifies that Habagat is no longer expected to affect the country. Hence, Amihan season is just around the corner!

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) prevails in Philippine premises and was last located at 525 kilometers (kms.) east-southeast of Virac, Catanduanes. PAGASA Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong said it has a slim chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within 24 hours. However, he noted that it may continue to move closer to landmass and could cross Central Luzon.

It will continue to dump rains in several areas in Luzon and Visayas. The Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The same weather condition is expected in Eastern Visayas. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the archipelago will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

No gale warning was issued today but fisherfolk are advised to be cautious in venturing out into the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the province of Quezon, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas. These areas will have moderate to rough sea conditions, making sea travel risky for small vessels.

Hello, Amihan?

The first week of October is almost over and one of the things to expect this month is the arrival of the Amihan Season. Quitlong said the transition period is still in progress. “Ang pagpasok po ng Amihan Season ay maaaring sa 3rd week o last week of October pa,”,he added. (Amihan Season is expected to occur in the latter part of the October.)

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) that dump rains in most parts of the Northern Luzon has already exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday.

This Friday, a new weather disturbance has entered inside PAR. At 4:00 AM, it was at 1,055 km East of Virac, Catanduanes. According to PAGASA, as it moves closer to the country over the weekend, it will bring rains in some parts of Luzon.

Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Southern Luzon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowersand thunderstorms over MIMAROPA and Quezon province. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

In an interview with PAGASA weather forecaster Rob Gile, the cool breeze of the air that we experience early in the morning is not yet the beginning of Amihan season.

LPA, thunderstorms bring rains

Rains prevailed in Metro Manila and nearby areas this Thursday morning because of thunderstorms.

Aside from thunderstorms, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) also brings rains to some parts of the country.

At 3:00 AM today, the LPA was estimated within the vicinity of Natonin, Mountain Province. According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Chris Perez, the LPA is no longer expected to develop into a tropical cyclone.

In the next hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will still affect the Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative and Cagayan Valley Regions, as well as Aurora.

In the rest of the Luzon including Metro Manila, down to Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy will prevail with localized thunderstorms.

Yesterday, a new Low Pressure Area has developed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to PAGASA, although it has a slim chance of developing into a Tropical Cyclone, it will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Ilocos and Aurora. At 3:00 AM, it was spotted at 420 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

Rains will prevail in some parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas due to the effect of the ITCZ. Residents of Western and Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan should prepare for cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have generally fair weather but still with a chance of isolated rains and thunderstorms especially in the latter part of the day.

Compared to the heavy rains that we experienced in the previous days in Metro Manila, PAGASA weather forecaster Chris Perez explains weather condition is expected to gradually improve due to the movement of the ITCZ.

Rainy Tuesday with ITCZ

Areas in Southern Luzon will continue to experience the effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), an area where winds coming from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres meet, resulting in rains in affected areas. The ITCZ is also composed of a series of Low Pressure Areas (LPA), which can develop into weather disturbances.

The presence of ITCZ continues to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, and Aurora province. Fair weather condition, with localized thunderstorms, will prevail in the remaining parts of the country.

OCTOBER OVERVIEW

In an interview with PAGASA Weather Forecaster Meno Mendoza, he said that one to two tropical cyclones are expected develop within or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), which can hit or miss the country’s landmass.

Based on climatological records, tropical cyclones in October hit Luzon and Visayas.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As the weather disturbance left the country, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), an area of wind convergence and series of low pressures, prevails in the Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Today, Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail in the remaining parts of the country except for isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
