Tag-init may start this week

The Hot and Dry Season (tag-init) may just be around the corner, but rains are still possible today.

In an interview with Panahon TV, PAGASA Weather Forecaster Meno Mendoza said that the Amihan has finally weakened yesterday and the start of tag-init may be declared anytime this week. However, there are other requirements that need to be met first, such as the presence of a High Pressure Area in the eastern part of Japan, prevailing Easterlies, rising temperatures and frequent thunderstorms.

While tag-init is not yet here, the Tail-end of a Cold Front and Easterlies continue to induce rains. Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and Caraga should brace for cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms that can trigger floods or landslides. Elsewhere, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail except for chances of isolated rain showers.

There is no gale warning raised today, which means small and large sea vessels can venture out into the sea. Storm-free weather conditions are seen in the next three days.
