‘Florita’ dampens parts of North Luzon

Tropical Storm Florita, the country’s sixth tropical cyclone this year is still within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

At 11:00 a.m., the cyclone was at 795 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 105 kph, and slowly moving at a northwest direction.

According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Samuel Duran, the storm will enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring rains to parts of Northern Luzon.

Today, the extension of the storm brings cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley Region. Elsewhere, partly cloudy to cloudy skies prevails except for chances of localized thunderstorms.
