After days of rains, some parts of the country will begin to see blue skies and sunshine as the weather improves.

In an interview with Panahon TV, PAGASA Weather Forecaster Shelly Ignacio said that the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat has weakened in the absence of a weather disturbance. This will lead to a monsoon break this week.

Today, a weaker Habagat will still bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands where flooding is possible in low-lying areas. In the remaining parts of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies or generally fair weather will prevail. Isolated rain showers are still possible.

A gale warning is hoisted in the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, including Batanes, the Babuyan Group of Island, the northern coast of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan. Due to rough to very rough sea conditions, fisherfolk and those with small seacraft are advised not to venture out, while larger vessels are advised to take precautionary measures.
