Rainy back-to-school in Southern Luzon, VisMin

Rains welcome the opening of classes in the country today.

As of 3:00 AM today, a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ) was estimated at 655 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Sheila Reyes, the LPA may develop into a Tropical Depression between 24 to 48 hours and will be named Domeng, the country’s fourth tropical cyclone for 2018. With its northward movement, landfall activity is less likely, although it will still bring rains in the eastern part of Luzon.

With the presence of the LPA, Visayas and Caraga will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms that may trigger flooding and landslides. Palawan, Bicol Region and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. In the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected.

In Metro Manila, the temperature can soar up to 33 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, 32 and 33 degrees Celsius are expected in Metro Cebu and Davao, respectively.
