Rains prevail despite #KardingPH not making landfall

At 4:00 a.m. today, the center of Tropical Depression #KardingPH was located at 1, 265 km East of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kph while moving north-northeast at 15 kph. It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday.

In an interview with PAGASA Weather Forecaster Meno Mendoza, although Karding is not expected to make landfall, this weather disturbance and the LPA at 730 km West of Northern Luzon (outside PAR) will enhance the Southwest Monsoon. Mendoza advised residents in the western part of the country to be on prepared for moderate to heavy rains until the weekend.

In the next hours, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms is expected in Mindanao and the rest of Visayas. Cagayan Valley and the remaining parts of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

Sea travel remains risky in the western seaboards of Northern, Central and Southern Luzon due to rough to very rough sea conditions.
