The Northeast Monsoon, the cold and dry air from Siberia, is still affecting Northern Luzon, bringing lights rains to the region.
According to PAGASA, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will continue to experience cloudy skies with light rains today. Meanwhile, Ilocos Region, Cordillera and the rest of Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains.
Easterlies, the warm and humid air from the Pacific, brings generally fair weather in the rest of the archipelago. As Easterlies affect the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, of Visayas and of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail only with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Gale warning is still in effect. The northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon will experience rough to very rough sea conditions. Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves in Batanes, the Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Sur, the northern coast of Cagayan, as well as the northern and western coast of Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, the country will remain storm-free in the next two to three days, PAGASA Weather Forecaster Meno Mendoza said in an interview with Panahon TV.

According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Chris Perez, two tropical cyclones usually visit the country this month. Based on climatological records, weather disturbances frequently hit Visayas or Mindanao area at this time of year.
Despite the absence of a tropical cyclone today, rains will still affect some areas.
The Tail-End of a Cold Front brings rains in Extreme Northern Luzon, while Easterlies dampen the eastern section of the country. Throughout the day, Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands, Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region and the provinces of Cagayan, Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. In the rest of the country, including Metro Manila Metro Manila, a generally fair weather will prevail but isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are possible.

Today, the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan brings cool breezes and rains in Northern and Central Luzon. Meanwhile, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and Easterlies dampen Mindanao, and the eastern sections Southern Luzon and Visayas, respectively.
Today, Quezon, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. In Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experienced with isolated light rains. In the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail.
Gale warning is still raised in the northern seaboards of Northern Luzon. These include Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, and the northern coasts of Cagayan and Ilocos Norte. Due to rough to very rough seas, fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out while larger vessels are alerted against big waves.
Cooler Days Ahead
Temperatures continue to dip as the Northeast Monsoon, the cold and dry air from Siberia, intensifies. Yesterday, a chilling 16.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Baguio City. In Tanay, Rizal 17 degrees Celsius was recorded, while the temperature dropped to 21 degrees Celsius in Infanta, Quezon. The surge of Amihan is expected in January and February.
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan has developed into a Tropical Depression and was given the local name #TinoPH.
At 10:00 AM today, the Tropical Depression was located at 245 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. It has maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of 80 kph, moving in a west-northwest direction at a speed of 28 kph. It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow morning.
This weather disturbance is expected to make landfall in Southern Palawan this afternoon, between 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 was hoisted in the said province.
Meanwhile, residents of MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Panay Island are alerted against possible flash floods and landslides. Metro Manila, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), and the province of Aurora will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Sea travel is risky in the seaboards of Palawan due to moderate to rough seas brought by Tropical Depression #TinoPH.
A possible tropical cyclone was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Based on PAGASA’s 5:00 AM Weather Forecast, the Low Pressure Area (PAR) was spotted east of Mindanao.
In an interview with Panahon TV, Weather Forecaster Samuel Duran said that the LPA may enter PAR today and may develop into a tropical cyclone. The weather disturbance may cross areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Due to the advancing clouds or trough of the LPA, the Davao Region and Soccsksargen will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. As the Northeast Monsoon prevails in the Northern Luzon, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. In the rest of the country including Metro Manila, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experienced with isolated rain showers.

Twenty heads of state, foreign media and delegates are in the Philippines to attend the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits this week. A generally fair weather is expected to prevail as related meetings continue in key locations including Metro Manila, Pampanga and Bulacan.
In an interview, PAGASA Weather Forecaster Chris Perez said that no weather disturbance is expected to affect the country within the next two days.
At 10:00 AM today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted at 450 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. Through its 11:00 AM Weather Advisory, PAGASA said that the LPA may develop into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours. According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Robert Badrina, it may cross Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon, and may bring rains in Metro Manila by Thursday until Saturday.
Apart from the LPA, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is causing rains in Palawan and Mindanao, while the Northeast Monsoon dampens Northern and Central Luzon.
Today, the Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region. For Metro Manila and the regions of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, Cordillera and Central Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail with isolated light rains due to the Amihan. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
The prevalence of various weather systems has prompted cancellation of domestic flights and classes in some areas in Luzon today.
According to PAGASA, the Tail-end of a Cold Front affects the eastern section of Northern and of Central Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains. Meanwhile the Easterlies bring scattered rains in the eastern section of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The Northeast Monsoon or Hanging Amihan continues to affect the rest of Northern Luzon, causing a slight breeze.

At 3:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted at 125 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte. According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong, the LPA is forecast to hit Visayas and Northern Palawan. It may also intensity into a tropical cyclone before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon is dominant in Northern Luzon.
Today, Aurora, Quirino and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Visayas and the regions of MIMAROPA, Bicol, Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao and the rest of CALABARZON will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. In Metro Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Cordillera and the rest of Cagayan Valley Region, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains will prevail. In Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will be experienced with isolated light rains. In the rest of Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
